Eric Trump to stump for Chrin

Eric Trump will campaign for Republican congressional candidate John Chrin during three stops today in Wayne, Pike and Lackawanna counties.

Trump, President Donald Trump’s second son, will stop first at 10:30 a.m. at the Wallenpaupack Sports Shop, 30 Wellwood Ave., Palmyra Twp., Wayne County. He and Chrin will speak there with Mark Strauser, the shop owner.

After that, he will head for The Boat House Restaurant, 141 Route 507, Palmyra Twp., Pike County, where he will greet attendees and speak briefly at 11:15 a.m.

Then, Eric Trump and Chrin will head to downtown Scranton, where they will meet with Republican campaign volunteers at 12:45 p.m. at the county Republican Party headquarters, 400 Spruce St.

Chrin faces Democratic U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright in the 8th Congressional District race.

The 8th district includes all of Lackawanna, Wayne and Pike counties, most of Luzerne County and part of Monroe County.

Trump’s visit will kick off a two-day push by the Trump team to help elect Chrin with Vice President Mike Pence scheduled to promote Chrin’s candidacy Wednesday at the Wyoming Valley Airport in Forty Fort.

A New York Times poll of 506 voters between Oct. 16 and 19 showed Cartwright leading the race 52 percent to 40 percent.

Eric Trump has several close friends who live locally and regularly hunted in Northeast Pennsylvania. They include Jerry Kaufman, a real estate investor from North Abington Twp.,who attended a Pottstown preparatory school with Eric Trump.

He is also close to David Weber, Rep. Tom Marino’s deputy chief of staff.

Trump campaigned for his father’s presidential election in Lackawanna County three times in 2016 — at a July 2016 rally that featured the future president at Lacakwanna College, when Donald Trump’s Clarks Summit campaign office opened in August 2016, and at a joint dinner hosted by the Lackawanna and Luzerne county Republicans parties in Scranton in late October 2016 In June 2012, Eric Trump addressed the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce annual dinner.
