Matt Cartwright’s History of Supporting Sanctuary Cities

(Scranton, PA) – Today, Team John Chrin released the following statement on Matt Cartwright’s long history and voting record of supporting sanctuary cities:

“Matt Cartwright has been singing a new tune of late. He's trying to convince the voters of Pennsylvania's new Eighth congressional district that he opposes sanctuary cities.

He's not for amnesty he says. And his team says that he voted against sanctuary cities last year. What about the previous year one might wonder? Or the year before that?

In 2015 to 2016, Matt Cartwright voted against legislation that would hold sanctuary cities accountable for breaking the law.

Following the 2016 election cycle, Cartwright must have seen his position was going to be an anchor around his neck.

Then John Chrin, a 10th generation Pennsylvanian, political outsider, and successful business leader enters the race in May 2017. Shortly thereafter, on June 29, 2017, Cartwright flipped on his previous 3 votes supporting sanctuary cities when he voted for Kate's Law.

It is apparent that Matt Cartwright's latest political maneuver is merely an attempt to trick Eighth district voters in an election year.”
